Cuba – vibrant, colorful, happy and crumbling. I was honored to visit this lively country after a half-century of isolation. True to my love of abandonments, Cuba reflects this characteristic with its endless decaying infrastructure, but unlike the desolation of abandonments, Cuba is full of life and color. I was, however, able to venture into some Cuban abandonments. Everywhere you turn, happy music permeates the air. Street life is a social conduit. Colorful classic cars dot the streets. Revolutionary heroes are fixtures of the landscape. Cuban pride is evident. I was eager to explore this once off-limits country. Visiting Cuba was a photographer’s dream with its endless canvas of rich imagery.
